The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS) has over 1,000 sworn and non-sworn employees dedicated to the safety of our fellow Mississippians. I would highly recommend this class for any regular shooter who wants to take their pistol skills to the next level, or is simply interested in learning how to properly draw from a holster. The second day at the range i was filled with concern, apprehension, and just basically frightened with the sounds of shots close by. My sister, husband, and I had never shot pistols and AFT provided a thorough foundation of SAFETY and practical knowledge in a fun and interactive all-day classroom session and lots of fun and SAFETY at the outdoor range on the second day where we got to fire all kinds of pistols so we could start deciding what suited us best. Now I know what type of ammunition to use, how clear misfires and jams, proper shooting techniques, how to break down and clean my gun and more. By the end of the day my confidence was firmly established and I felt empowered. The first day of instruction was focused on safety, over and over the instructor talked about safety, explained common mistakes to avoid and just being knowledgeable of the precautions, safety and best practices of how to physically and mentally manage the pistol.
